See What Our Clients Have to Say

When the Center decided to acquire a new building back in 2015, we needed a space that could allow for expansion and to accommodate the many people seeking our services. Executive Director Donna Gunning and the Board of Directors identified a "fixer upper" on Lackland Road that would allow us to double the number of people with disabilities we serve. The Center purchased the building and the process of planning, demolition, and renovation began.

The Center found an exceptional general contractor, RPA Construction Services, to help us make our vision of a new headquarters a reality. RPA helped the Center navigate the unfamiliar territory of construction projects and helped us to complete the renovation in phases. By doing the project in phases, the Center was able to transition our social enterprises, Destination Desserts and Wags in a Bag, into their expanded kitchens early.

RPA Construction Services also advised us on how to create a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility while reducing the expense, because they understand the importance of the services the Center provides to people with disabilities. John Piskulich, RPA Vice President, said, "When we learned of the Center's mission, we were proud to help them with their project. We wanted to help the Center realize its vision for a new facility."

This project would not have been possible without RPA's hands-on approach to managing construction and without the guidance and hard work of John and Steve Schneider, RPA's Field Superintendent for our construction project.

At the end of April 2017, the Center finally moved to our new headquarters at 11828 Lackland Road. Over 100 people attended our Grand Opening on June 28 and the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Mike Moeller joined us for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests were treated to a tour of our 36,000-square-foot facility along with delicious appetizers and desserts by Destination Desserts. If you weren't able to make the Grand Opening event, please stay tuned for details on upcoming tours.

The Center's employees and program participants are excited to be in our new home. We couldn't have done it without all of you — our friends, supporters, and donors. Thank you!
